Sunday (April 16) was the day of the Mini IronMan race in Florianópolis, starting at Ingleses beach, in the north of the island. 🏊🚴🏼♀️🏃♂️
The 70.3-mile (113km) race, popularly known as the Mini Iron, is divided into 1.9km of swimming, 90km of cycling and 21.1km of running.
A total of 3,600 athletes from 34 countries took part in the competition held in the capital of Santa Catarina.
Sponsored by Itaú BBA, Track&Field, Xaomi, Hospital SOS Cárdio, Omint and Heineken, the event took place in the north and central regions of the city.
Brazil on the IronMan podium
Brazil took the podium in the race that took place in Florianópolis.
José Belarmino, from São Paulo, took first place overall with just over 4 hours to go.
José Belarmino (04:02:45) was persistent and took the lead in the race to secure another champion's trophy.
Walter Tlaija (04:04:21) and Marcio Machado (04:06:33) completed the podium in style. Congratulations!

First in the women's race was Patricia Mendes, also from São Paulo.
la, who won all the IRONMAN 70.3 stages held in Brazil in 2022, started the year showing that there's good things to come in 2023!
Ana Augusta Lima (04:30:44) and Mary Ortega (04:31:20) completed the podium in the first race of the year, which was very tight.

The pair had already won the same race in previous years.
