Florianópolis has a life and rhythm of its own. When the center awakens to Carnival, the air changes, the ground vibrates and the whole city seems to breathe to the beat of joy. It's in this pulsating heart, between old buildings, worn sidewalks and sweaty dreams, that two of the most eagerly awaited gatherings of our Carnival take shape: Bloquete & Calma Beth on Saturday and Bloco Não Era Amor on Sunday. Two days of lively, illuminated streets with the energy that only the center of Floripa can provide.
Saturday begins with Bloco dos Sujos taking over the center. It's Floripa's rite of passage, the gateway for those who decide to go through the looking glass of Carnival and never come back the same. And when the sun sets in the afternoon and the crowd has already turned, Bloquete & Calma Beth appears. The bloco is a mixture of irreverence, costumes and beautiful people. The party is 100% open bar, but the booze is just an excuse: what intoxicates is the lively street, the wind smelling of glitter, the infinite chorus that springs up from all sides. It's carnival roots, but with that new face that makes Floripa recognize itself in the mirror: light, bold and vibrant.
On Sunday, the city dawns like someone who knows it's not over yet. The Center revs up its engines and Bloco Não Era Amor takes the stage with a chorus that everyone knows even before they sing it. It's an appointment for people who don't want to say goodbye, who understand that Carnival is about continuity, joyful stubbornness. The bloco arrives with pagode, pop, funk, that mix that only makes sense on the street and with an open bar that sustains the joy until the last unknown embrace. It wasn't love, but those who were there swear it felt like it. It was a party, it was catharsis, it was that collective glow that happens when no one wants to leave.
Floripa becomes a stage, becomes a drum kit, becomes an avenue. In the center, anything is possible: a reunion, instant passion, a costume that fell into a puddle, glitter that sticks until next year. And in the midst of this organized chaos, these two days that make the city boil, Bloquete & Calma Beth and Não Era Amor fulfill the promise that Carnival makes every year: to give the crowd a piece of a dream that will never end.
If Floripa has soul, it parades here. Do you want it? Then come. Carnival has already begun.
