Located on the southern tip of the island of Santa Catarina, Ponta da Caiacanga beach is simple and little known in Florian\u00f3polis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a length of approximately 200 meters of fine white sand, it is surrounded by rocky shores and preserved native vegetation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History of Caiacanga-a\u00e7u and Caiacanga Mirim<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The origin of the name of Ponta da Caiacanga or Caiacanga-A\u00e7u beach is uncertain, but it is believed to be related to the fact that, in the past, the Carij\u00f3s Indians used the area to make wooden canoes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Tupi-Guarani this name means Monkey Head Earth Point<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The term \u201cMirim\u201d means small. Caiacanga Mirim means \u201cPoint of Land in the Shape of a Small Monkey's Head\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This name is used to differentiate it from the other larger end of the beach, better known as Caiacanga A\u00e7u.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beach also has a remarkable history, being an important landing point for slaves during the colonial period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The environmental preservation area that covers Ponta da Caiacanga beach is home to a great diversity of native fauna and flora species. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to get to Caiacanga beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Caiacanga beach can be reached from the Gov. Aderbal Ramos da Silva highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route follows the SC-405 highway to Av. Dep. Diom\u00edcio Freitas\/Rod. Jo\u00e3o Nilson Zunino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Follow the signs, the route is usually well signposted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By car<\/strong>
Caiacanga beach is in the south of Florian\u00f3polis Island, 37 km from the bridge and the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you reach the Pedro Ivo bridge, go straight along the Gov. Gustavo Richard highway, second from the Gov. Aderbal Ramos da Silva highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just follow the signs to the south of the island along Av. Dep. Diom\u00edcio Freitas\/Rod. Jo\u00e3o Nilson Zunino to Rod. Ac. ao Aeroporto in Campeche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take Rod. Apar\u00edcio Ramos Cordeiro, R. Jos\u00e9 Ol\u00edmpio da Silva and Rod. A\u00e7oriana to Rod. Baldicero Filomeno in Ribeir\u00e3o da Ilha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buses<\/strong>
For those arriving by bus in Florian\u00f3polis, you should go to the Terminal Integrado do Centro (Ticen), which is 400m from the bus station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go to platform C, where the urban buses leave for the Rio Tavares Integrated Terminal (Tirio).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you get to Tirio, you have to take another bus to Caieira da Barra do Sul<\/a> and ask to get off at the beach or tip of Caiacanga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don't have to pay for a ticket again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uber, 99 or Taxi<\/strong>
Uber or a similar service to Caiacanga beach can cost around R$ 30 from the airport and R$ 70 from the bus station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
