Although it's not a beach per se, the Cacup\u00e9 waterfront offers a privileged view of the North Bay and the nearby islands, making it a popular spot for water sports such as stand-up paddle and canoeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The infrastructure at Cacup\u00e9 beach is limited, with a few restaurant options along the shore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

History of Cacup\u00e9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The history of Cacup\u00e9 dates back to colonial times, when the region was inhabited by indigenous tribes and later by Azorean fishermen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its name is of indigenous origin, derived from the Tupi-Guarani language, and means \u201cgreen behind the hill\u201d, which indicates the presence of dense vegetation in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although there are no records of indigenous settlements in the area, the neighborhood's name suggests the passage of these peoples through the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historically, Cacup\u00e9 was linked to the town of Santo Ant\u00f4nio de Lisboa, which was an important customs center in the 18th and 19th centuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cacup\u00e9 Beaches<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Cacup\u00e9 is a spectacular place, with stretches divided by rock formations and small hills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The region is divided into Cacup\u00e9 Grande and Cacup\u00e9 Pequeno, with the former consisting of a single strip of sand and the latter of four. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of these four lanes has a popular name based on the names of the residents who settled there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the north-south direction, the beaches that make up Cacup\u00e9 Pequeno are: Praia do Vivino, Praia do Hip\u00f3lito (or das Irm\u00e3s), Praia do Z\u00e9 da Benta and Praia do Teodoro. Nice, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to get to Cacup\u00e9<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Cacup\u00e9 beach is 20 kilometers from the city center and can be reached via Avenida Beira-Mar Norte, up the CIC elevated road and along Avenida da Saudade until you reach the SC-401 (Jos\u00e9 Carlos Daux) highway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This highway connects the city center to the central and northern beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Follow this highway straight until you reach Square Corporate on Rodovia Virg\u00edlio V\u00e1rzea. Follow the signs, the route is usually well signposted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By car<\/strong>
Cacup\u00e9 beach is in the north of Florian\u00f3polis Island, 21 km from the bridge and the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once over the bridge, stay in one of the two right-hand lanes, heading towards Avenida Beira Mar and Norte da Ilha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just follow the signs to the north of the island and take the SC-401 from km 17 to Rod. Virg\u00edlio V\u00e1rzea in Saco Grande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take the Haroldo Soares Glavan road to Cacup\u00e9 beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buses<\/strong>
For those arriving by bus in Florian\u00f3polis, you should go to the Terminal Integrado do Centro (Ticen), which is 400m from the bus station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go to platform C, where the urban buses leave for the Santo Ant\u00f4nio Integrated Terminal (Tisan) or Trindade Terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you get to Tisan, you have to take another bus to Cacup\u00e9. You don't have to pay for a ticket again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
