Samba began at the home of Tia Ciata, who provided the beans and spices needed for the gathering, and the men played and sang. Little by little, warrior women who defied their generation and their time emerged to create and give voice to the immortal sambas of this genre that is so popular and so Brazilian.
The Brazilian orchestra takes a walk through the history of women in samba, paying homage to the great composers and interpreters who have emerged in these 100 years of samba, through our special guests, singers Juliana D Passos, Camélia Martins, Bárbara Damásio and Elô Gonzaga.
The repertoire features classics that we know from the divas of samba, such as D. Ivone Lara or Leci Brandão, songwriters who were forerunners in a territory hitherto dominated by men, and composed sambas-enredo and many hits. We also have eternal interpreters like Beth Carvalho, Alcione, Elis Regina and Clara Nunes, who are the very face of samba. In this concert we will bring you great hits by all these incredible women, while also trying to show all sides of samba, samba de roda, partido alto, pagode, religious syncretism... a bit of everything that shapes this unique music that defines Brazilian culture so well.

Brazilian Orchestra
Founded in 2022, the Brazilian Orchestra came up with an innovative proposal: to fuse the richness of popular music with the language and structure of concert music.
The Orchestra's instrumental line-up is in itself a statement of identity - alongside symphonic instruments, there are cavaquinho, mandolin, accordion and guitars, translating Brazil's musical DNA.
With original arrangements and scores written especially for this format, the Orchestra achieves a level of technical excellence rare in groups dedicated to popular music. Each suit functions as in a classical orchestra, with organization, precision and artistic sensitivity.
More than just performing music, the Orchestra offers an experience that connects audiences of all ages with the living history of Brazilian music - from Carlos Gomes to Hermeto Pascoal, from Villa-Lobos to Chiquinha Gonzaga, from Tom Jobim to Egberto Gismonti.
