Florianópolis' technology incubator, MIDITEC, has been recognized as one of the best in the world, according to UBI Global.
Every year, UBI Global, a community and innovation intelligence company, works to locate innovation centers around the world and identify the good practices that make them successful.
“Being in the ranking for three years is recognition of the extensive work of this network of support and training for entrepreneurs that is MIDITEC. The program supports and has supported more than 250 companies in 24 years of operation and has been expanded to generate impact in all regions of Santa Catarina,” says Iomani Engelmann, president of ACATE.
More than 600 accelerators and incubators from 90 countries took part in the survey.
The result of the study with the ranking will be published in the World Benchmark Study 2021-2022.
Triple recognition
This is the third time that the program run by the Santa Catarina Technology Association (ACATE) in partnership with Sebrae SC has appeared in the World's Top University-linked Business Incubators & Accelerators.
In the 2017-2018 and 2019-2020 editions, the incubator also received international recognition.
The announcement of first place will take place at a ceremony in Belgium between May 14 and 17, 2023.
For the Technical Director of Sebrae/SC, Luc Pinheiro, recognition like this is extremely important for Santa Catarina.
“Being in this ranking is the recognition of our daily work, which is to support Santa Catarina companies to evolve. It also strengthens the startup ecosystem, innovation environments, programs and actions aimed at startups.”.
The MIDITEC network has also received other awards, having been voted one of the best hubs in Brazil by the Startup Awards for three years (2018, 2019 and 2022).
Incubators in the state replicate methodology
Between 2021 and 2022, the program expanded its operations across the state through a network of 10 already consolidated incubators, which adopt the MIDITEC methodology and support the development of incubated startups in different pillars such as strategic management, marketing and sales, financial management, attracting investments and staff.
It also monitors the development of companies in Florianópolis, Joinville, Blumenau, Chapecó, Brusque and Rio do Sul.
Since its creation, more than 250 companies have been supported, with 78 currently incubated in the MIDITEC Network and 173 graduated, including Pixeon, RD Station, Ahgora and others.
