A Praia Brava, no norte da Ilha, em Florianópolis é uma praia isolada. A Brava está localizada entre Ponta das Canas/Lagoinha e Ingleses

Praia Brava, in the far north of the island of Florianópolis, has its own peculiar characteristics.

Brava is located between the beaches of Ponta das Canas/Lagoinha and Ingleses.

It's considered a noble seaside resort, isolated from the coasts and hills.

The only access is via Avenida Epitácio Bittencourt, which starts at the Ponta das Canas interchange and ends at Brava.

Currently, its fixed population does not exceed 1,000 inhabitants.

However, during the summer season this number can be five times higher, especially during the New Year's Eve and Carnival periods.

The community is full of luxurious condominiums, a few summer houses, some hotels and inns.

However, the neighborhood has a limited tourist infrastructure, with a few bars and restaurants, a market and a few stores selling various items.

The Brava Sea

The sea at Brava is intermediate because it's an open beach with oceanic characteristics, which is why it's popular with surfers.

It has strong, rough waves, hence the name of the beach, with intense undertow.

However, the waters are reasonably cold, crystal clear with high salinity and viscosity.

History of Praia Brava

According to reports, in 1979 businessman Nilton Ramos went camping with his children in the area and was enchanted by the beach and envisioned the possibility of a subdivision there.

So, with the support of the city council, architect André Schmidt designed the structure for a prime neighborhood.

Schmidt was also responsible for the design of the current Costão do Santinho resort.

In 1990, three Argentine businessmen built the first condominium called Tres Américas.

Two years later, other condominiums sprang up and tourists began to flock to the resort.

Today, the beach no longer has land for sale, but it does have several high-end condominiums for rent and purchase.
