The beach got its name because of its sand, which fishermen called “soft ground”.

Until the 1980s, Praia Mole was deserted, frequented by a few surfers in search of high waves.
A historical event is the shipwreck of the Mercosul Santos in 1981, which left 28 dead and had a major impact on the region.

However, because of his selfish behavior, he was turned into stone by an Indian who lived there and to this day his image can be seen on the rocks of the beach.
According to other legends, on the left side of the beach there is a petrified dragon and on the other side there is an Indian.
